TOS Review: GO SCIENCE

Library and Educational services is a wholesale supplier of Christian books, DVDs, CD and audio books. One can save 30% to 70% or more.
Brent (my science guy) and I were eager to get our hands on Go Science DVD Series. We were allowed a choice of two DVDs for this review from a series of 6.
We chose Magnetism, Electricity, Engineering and Design.
And Chemistry, States of Matter and Life Sciences.
You can purchase the DVDs for  $8.97 each or the whole set for $47.95.
Each DVD is about 40-60 minutes running time.

Ben Roy, your host for GO SCIENCE, is a former director of a science program that appeared on T.V. He served as a middle school principal and teacher. He was awarded "Teacher of the Year" for the Gorden County School in Georgia. Mr. Roy has a passion for science and it shows in his presentations.

The videos are engaging and fun to watch. Mr. Roy is full of energy when presenting the demonstrations. He kept my 7 year old Lance's attention. All my children enjoyed watching GO SCIENCE. My children are 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. Although my older ones liked watching the DVDs, it seemed more geared towards the younger crowd.

What I liked about GO SCIENCE, is the demonstrations are not your ordinary at-home experiments. Some you can do at home for instance the Root Beer Float and Cut Paper Halves demonstrations but many of them use chemicals, gases or items not easily obtainable to the public. Like an A/C Electro Magnets, Tesla Coil, Van de Graaf Generator, and a Jacob's Ladder.

You know what I like most about Go Science? Mr. Roy, points everything towards God. There is a a message for his audience in every demonstration. In his presentation "Flash Paper" he burned a piece of paper. The ashes left behind represented sin, for we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3.23. He then burned another piece of paper. This one burned right up without leaving ashes. He explained to the children that when God forgives us of our sin, he gets rid of it, he erases it. When we confess our sins, we are forgiven (1 John 1:9).

At the end of each episode Mr. Roy says, "Every time we learn something about science, we learn something about our Creator God!"

What did children and I think of Go Science? We enjoyed learning more about God and science. The DVDs were enjoyable to watch. I liked the spiritual application and look forward to ordering the rest of the series. Like I mentioned above, my older children didn't mind watching GO SCIENCE but thought it more for their younger siblings. I would say children from the ages 5-11 would be the best audience for this series.
