Here is what my Thinking Tree boys are reading today.
For this week I had the boys only select 4-5 books. As you can see, Lance is into cars and motorcycles. I didn’t know that, very interesting. The Secret Pet and We Should Be Thankful books are from last week.
Lance is working his way through Practice Pages 2. This is part of the Dyslexia Games Series.
Look at his journal, I love how used it looks. We are going on our 5th week using The Thinking Tree journals.
Almost done with a journal. Because we missed some days, I think we’ll get an extra week out of it.
I’m not sure why my picture is tinted blue but look, over half way done! Wahoo!
Ethan’s reads for the week.
Ethan is loving the Songbirds book and the Nature Reader. He is also working his way through Word Hunt 2 from Dyslexia Games Series B.
Brent’s selection. This week we are doing something different with the spelling pages. We added the Scrabble Word Finder (I should have him use the Scrabble Dictionary though). Instead of using his books to find words he’ll use the Scrabble Word-Finder.
When Joshua and Brent came back from California they brought the love of Scrabble playing with them.
Another thing we are changing up this week is adding in Story Starters. This particular journal - Eclectic Do-it-Yourself Homeschool Journal, the one with the space scene has a pages for the child to be creative. They can write a poem, make a list, or write a story. So being the semi structured homeschooling mom that I am, I thought it would be perfect to go with Karen Andreola’s Story Starters.
Brent was having trouble coming up with some of his own stories and would always use the page for copywork which is fine but I want more of his creative juices flowing.
This is where Brent completes most of his schoolwork. He does a few pages then builds stuff using his Legos.
Today Brent, along with Annette, Caleb, and Ethan took their journals to the library. Hopefully they’ll complete most of their schoolwork there today.
Caleb’s books for the week. He really enjoys using the Homeschooling Journal. He is my part-timer though. Monday & Tuesday he uses the journals and Wednesday – Friday he uses his ‘regular’ schoolbooks.
Ethan and Lance are using See to Spell. Today Ethan spelled again and any correctly. This is his second time in a row. If he spells it correctly tomorrow we can trade it in for another word. So today he worked on the words: been, could, goes, Mr., and Mrs.
All the kiddos completed a math lesson as well. I didn’t get any pictures of our Grapevine Studies, so maybe I’ll add those later or tomorrow.
If you live right, chances are your children will too. But teach them everything. What you don't teach them someone else will-and you might not like those lessons.-The Delany Sisters
