My Books!

We had 3 days of glorious rain. Lots and lots and lots of it. I mean like sheets of rain for one those days. I loved it! I love the rain except this time the rain caused some tears.

I had an HOD box in storage! Our small storage unit that we have in the backyard. It’s suppose to be waterproof.

I was watching my favorite little guy (a 2yr. old boy) and didn’t even know that my books had been compromised!

I was chasing the little guy, he ran into Joshua’s room and that’s when I saw my books.

Imagine my surprise when I saw my books, wet and sad looking.

Yes, I cried but only for a minute. Yes I was sad but then I remembered that they are things, only things.

My kids (mostly Brent, Josh, and Annette) were so kind. They found some blow-dryers and did the best they could to save them. This happened Saturday and today is Monday.

They are still damp. I am going to keep them as a reminder of how much my kiddos love me. They spent a long time trying to save the books. Thank you kiddos, I love you!

And on a side note; my hair is in a funk. It’s acting w-e-i-r-d, weird. My curls are all stuck together. It doesn’t look bad but when I touch it it feels yucky. Strange!

  1. How sad! I feel your pain. I'm the same way with my books. I hate it when I get food on them, or even a drop of liquid. I don't like when they begin to curl or when the spine is bent (some people overextended when reading and cause creases on the spine).

One time one of the youth spilled coffee all over one of my research books. I was SO bummed, but I knew it was an accident so I tried my best not to show how sad I was. I still have the book too - still readable and a valued addition to my ancient history section.

Got to love how the kids did their best to help dry them. :)
