The Thinking Tree Thursday Link-Up

This Thursday instead of writing a Spotlight Review I thought I'd share pictures of the inside of a journal my kids are working on. In this case it's not a journal but one of the Teach Yourself to Draw books.

I love writing my Spotlight posts about The Thinking Tree but they were a bit long for a link-up. I felt like it would take forever for anyone to find my fellow Thinking Tree mamas post waaay at the bottom - so with that said, I'm going to try something a little bit different.

My daughter Annette is working through Teach Yourself to Draw Horses, Ponies, and Donkeys.

First Annette is instructed to study the drawing. She is to look at the strokes and notice the different parts of the pencil that the artist use, like the tip or the side, did she blend and shade, etc.

On the left side Annette added shading and details to match the artist's drawing. The opposite page she draws the missing part.

She continues to draw the missing part on the left. The right side was Annette's first attempt with drawing the picture on her own. I was pretty impressed! She did notice that the neck is too wide but overall, I thought it came out really good.

Here she drew the horse again. And of course this mama thinking she did a wonderful job. Next she'll practice drawing a donkey using the same steps.

There is also companionship handbook but she's not using it. The younger kiddos will most likely use both books when they start Teach Yourself to Draw series. The companion guide has the child research horses.

  1. Annette did a wonderful job! She is quite the artist. My Mikaela would love this, as she is always drawing horses!

    1. Thank you. Ever since we completed a CM science book from Queens Homeschool (think that's the name) years ago, I think she was in 5th grade, it got her into drawing. She doesn't draw everyday or anything.

Hopefully my linky will be available. I don't know why the Linky Guy hasn't updated my subscription. I paid on the 1st of this month. Hopefully soon so people can link up :)
