Containers and Homemade Deodorant

Save your containers. They come in handy when making homemade stuff!

Here I used a cupcake container for my homemade deodorant and fabric softeners

Here is a recipe for homemade deodorant. I'll update how it works through out the year.

1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup arrow root powder OR corn starch
5 tablespoons coconut oil
I used corn starch because we don't have any arrow root.

Mix baking soda & cornstarch/arrow root. Once mixed add the coconut oil and work into a paste. Put into a container or empty deodorant stick container. I prefer a sm. container. Put a little bit on my finger and rub on armpit. The paste doesn't feel icky, it's like putting lotion on. I have read that the deodorant stick doesn't work well. I know mine would melt because we have no window in the bathroom.

I didn't come up with this recipe on my own I got it here.

I'm on a quest of using less chemicals; I have tried using only baking soda in the past for deodorant but it dried out my poor armpits. I have read of others using only baking soda but it didn't work for me. I was happy to find the above recipe.

For homemade toothpaste click here. I haven't made this yet, but plan to after our toothpaste runs out.
