Math Journal

Joanna, had a question about the Math Journal that is used in McRuffy 2nd grade. It is optional. Basically they are writing their math facts out and defining a math definition with an example. Today Brent will write a definition for Commutative Property and then give a math fact example. At first I was going to skip this but the more I thought about it, it sounded like a good way to keep those facts memorized.

Another example is for the child to make their own pentomino puzzle by making a design and then tracing it in their math journal.

  1. Linda, I really love the math journal idea. This is something that you can use with any child. I love it! Very classical if you think about it. :)

ps thanks for praying, it looks like everything is going to be alright with my daughter's eyesight.
