No Teaching Textbook for Josh!!!

Today I thought I would let Joshua do a lesson using Teaching Textbooks just to see how it would work for him. He much preferred Saxon. He said Saxon explains thing better.

With TT they have this small character in the left side near the corner. It's animated and moves. That was so distracting to Josh. We had to put a post-it note over the figure.

The background of TT is yellow, lined paper. Like notebook paper. When TT would write the numbers or words on the screen they did not sit on the line, so that was a distraction to Josh as well. He said they are wasting paper space. My goodness!!! You, see what I have to put up with. All I can do is laugh.

Needless to say we went back to Saxon (not that we were switching). I had him listen to Investigation 4 using the Teacher CDs. Only the first half though because he was already getting tired after the TT experience. He was starting to do that weird breathing through the nose thing.

Teaching Textbook is so cheery and yellow, this is why I thought Josh might decide he liked it better than Saxon. I'm so glad he didn't like it. I am going to have him use Saxon to the end......

  1. Linda, that goes to show just how different our children are from each other.

I think he, your Joshua, is so cute! He reminds me of my Adam. Adam always knows what he wants and what he can and can't do.

I received TT 4 today and it looks great! I have kept my CLE 3 and 4 just in case. ;) But I am really hoping and praying that this give him a joy for doing math. Right now he pretty much hates it. I'm reluctant to start it until the summer time because I just want to finish out the curriculum we already have.

    Many Blessings!!

  2. Hi Linda,
I pray that you had a lovely Mother's Day! Mine was a bit overwhelming with hospitalizations and surgeries between my MIL and mom, but it was good. I'm looking forward to getting settled in at home again.

About TT, just another example of how things work for some and not others.
