Hidaways in History

We are back from AWANA. The children had so much fun. There was a water-slide, other air filled stuff and volleyball as well as a scavenger hunt for the Sparks. Too bad I forgot my camera AGAIN! I do that every year.

Now that the kiddos are in bed I wanted to write more about Hideaways in History from WinterPromise.

The program is actually for K and 1st grades but I'm going to make it work for my 3rd, 4th and 5th graders as well.

I love the picture books that are included. They are fun and packed with lots of information. My Annette, has read most of them because they are so interesting. I'm slowly collecting  You Wouldn't Want to be series as well. There are about 30 or so books. You Wouldn't Want to Be a Roman Gladiator is one of them. Another is a Mummy. Can't think of some of the other titles but they are packed with good stuff.

I will also take ideas from the Well Trained Mind book about summarizing, narration and outlining for the two older ones.

Another book that is schedules is:
I figure if I'm learning from the program then the children are as well. We'll add figures to a timeline too.

I am omitting the science and Bible portion of the program because we are using something else for both subjects.

The two youngest are using Outdoor Secrets and the companion guide from Simply Charlotte Mason {more on that later}

  1. This program has intrigued me since it came out. Can't wait to read more about how it is working for your family.
