Another Birthday

Today, I turned the big 4-0. I'm forty and to be honest I already miss being in my thirties. I know, it's bad but I don't want to be 40.

My dear hubby bought me some roses yesterday. This morning my Sis-in-law brought me dome pretty Daisys and pumpkin cheesecake. I thought that was very nice of her to take the time to purchase flowers and my favorite kind of cheesecake.

I love flowers!

I was so happy when the phone rang and it was my Grandma Tanny. I miss her so much. She misses the children. We hope to take a trip to California next year to see her. She now uses a walker and I'm happy to hear she refuses a wheelchair. She said a wheelchair might make her lazy. She does miss gardening and tending to the trees. She can no longer do that. She has a hard time reading as well. Her eyes aren't working like they use too. I suggested some audio books but she said her brain can't coomprehend all the words anymore. One of her favorite games to play is scrabble but she said even that is becoming hard because her fingers get stiff at times and she can't grasp the tiles. All in all she was very thankful for the many things she still can do. I can learn a lesson or two from her about being content with where one is at.

Tonight my hubby and I are going to look at cars. Not a very birthdayish thing for me but it's the only time this week that we can go car shopping.
We are going to sell our van and look for something with more power. We are always scraping our poor van. Especially when we take a vacation. We are so loaded with stuff that I'm always afraid the wheels will pop. We cram so much in the van with the children, then we put a little hitch on the back and we load the top.

This will be our 4th car in almost 15 yrs. of marriage. When I married Lupe, he had a car (I didn't), when I was pregnant with our 4th child we bought a 7 passenger van, then when I was pregnant with our 6th child, Lance, we sold it to buy another van that would seat 8. Now with the children growing we need something with more horse-power and hope to find one that seats 9. This would make it so much easier to take my dad places with us.

So, that's what we will do for my birthday. I'm sure Lupe, will take me out to dinner on our regular date night (Saturday).

  1. Happy Birthday, Linda! Enjoy your special day! Many Blessings!

  2. Happy 40th! I turned 40 on the 12th. It is an eye opener. I have placated myself by telling my parents, "Well, at least I don't have a child who's 40!" That has made me feel a bit better - but only a wee bit ;-) So let's bite the bullet and enjoy our 40s together.

  3. Happy belated birthday and many blessings Linda. You were born in a great month!!! Along with three of my kiddos ; )

  4. Happy, Happy very belated Birthday blessings!!!!

I'm sorry that I am late in catching up. I've enjoyed all your posts.

Have fun finding that new car :)

I love hearing from you all!
