Surgery Tomorrow

Well tomorrow is the big day. I'm excited yet nervous. I have been waiting for this day for over a year. This surgery will fix my overbite. I'll be able to eat like a normal person, but I also hope it will help with the headaches I get. I think because of the tension of my bite it causes headaches.  I miss being able to read aloud to my children and sing hymns, for some reason when I sing hymns my throat will start to itch. Same with reading a book to my children. It would be wonderful if that will go away as well. The doctor said I have a very narrow passage way and by moving my lower jaw forward it will widen it.

I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. tomorrow, the surgery is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. Hopefully by noon the surgery should be done. There will be another hour of monitoring then Lupe will be able to come see me.

Recovery time is estimated to be three weeks. The first few days or so I'll be on a pure liquid diet and will most likely have to use something similar to those baby medical droppers to get the liquid I need.

Then the next three weeks will be blended food only. Hmmm, very interesting. The fourth and fifth weeks I can start eating soft foods like mash potatoes, chicken and such. Hopefully by the sixth or seventh weeks I'll be back to normal.

If you all feel like saying a prayer I'd appreciate it. I'm a bit nervous. There is a main nerve that the doctor does not want to touch at all. This nerve is very sensitive and if touched it can cause some permanent numbness in the mouth or lips, just depending on how or where it was touched.

I am comfortable with our doctor. He has been very open with everything and explaining the 'what ifs' with us.

I'd love if you'd all keep the doctor in prayer. That God will guide his hands. Pray for Lupe, I'm sure this is a bit stressful for him as well, with his beloved (that's me) going under the knife and all (as he so kindly put it). Lupe is taking some time off from work as well, he'll be attempting to school the children =) so please keep him in prayer with that too.

If you can pray for a speedy recovery and that the children will kinda keep the house clean ;)

I'm not sure when my next blog post will be. Maybe a few days to a week after the surgery I'll be able to give an update.

Blessing to you all and I'll see you on the other side (think The Emperor's New Groove)

  1. OH Linda, praying for the Lord's hand to guide the surgeon's hand. Praying for the Lord to cover that nerve and keep it from any harm, praying that you have a speedy recovery. Praying that your husband deal well while you are recovering, and praying that the kids also deal well, and help to run the house. I will be praying, praying, praying that all goes 100 percent well in Jesus's mighty name. Maybe your husband can just do a quick post that you are out of surgery and let us know that all is well.

Many Blessings in Jesus' mighty name!

Remember, rest, rest, and rest! It will all be there when you come back and I have a feeling that the children are going to school themselves quite well. :)

    Much Love in Christ,

    Dee
