Lance School 2nd Grade Year {2012-2013}

I'm excited about Lance's 2nd grade school year. What I have written may look like a lot but I don't have Lance do it all in one day. It's spread throughout the week and not all workbooks and such are used daily. I do try to get our core subjects done at least four days a week. *= core items. History and science are gravy. I think they are important but I only have so many hours in my day. I do try to get to them at least 3 times a week.

For math I'm using:
*Life of Fred Elementary starting with Apples
*Verbal Math, starting with Book 1
The Complete Book of Math for Grades 1 and 2
The Complete Book of Telling Time and Money
The Complete Book of Math Timed Test
Cut and Paste Math Grades 1-3

I know it looks like a lot but I don't expect Lance to use every, single, page of each math workbook. His main math will be Life of Fred and Verbal Math. I think it's important for him to have a workbook and write answers as well.

Language Arts:
*Writing with Ease Book 1
Big Words for Little Kids~I'll have to see if he can handle this.
*Spelling Mechanics Homeschool Word Study Level 1
Cut and Paste Language Arts Grades 1-3
Reading:
*Phonics Pathways~his main phonics program
Horizons Phonics~ using this as a supplement and seat work.
Ready2Read~starting with level 1. I would like him to go through all three levels at a faster pace.
Read, Think , Cut, and Paste~Looks fun and will keep him busy.

History:
History for Little Pilgrims
History Stories for Little Children

Read Aloud:
Peter Cottontail
Jerry Muskrat
Peter Rabbit
Chatterer the Red Squirrel
Grandfather Frog
Reddy Fox
Buster Bear
Danny Meadow Mouse

Bible:
Devotions for the Children's Hour
AWANA

Science:
God's Wonderful Works

Critical Thinking:
Critical Thinking Skills Book 1 (still need to order it)

History, science, Bible, Read Aloud /Story Time, Geography and Poetry are included in Heart of Dakota Little Heart's curriculum.
