Weekend Wrap-Up

I haven't posted a Weekend Wrap-up since Auguest. This is when I take pictures over the weekend and put them all in one post. Instead of doing one post about this and another post about that, I wrap it all up in one. Except for our Date Night those are separate.

I count Friday after 4:00 p.m. as the start of our weekend. This time though it started Thursday. Friday my hubby took off for an almost all day doctor appointment for all eight of us.

Thursday~12/6/12
My lovely SIL brought me home a Pumpkin, Soy, Latte.
For supper we enjoyed a nice hot bowl of Taco Soup. This cooked all day and it was so yummy by dinner time. There are Fritos under those beans. By having this slow cook for hours everything was soft enough for me to eat and it was sooooo good!

Friday

Friday we left the house at 11:00 a.m. and didn't get back until 6:00 p.m. It was a long day at the doctor's office. It was our yearly check-up time that we drive an hour away for because we love our doctor. He is so good with the children, he's homeschooling friendly and we trust him. He too homeschooles his five children.
The staff is wonderful and well organized. A new nurse couldn't believe how well behaved our children were. She said that she's sees lots of children and hasn't seen any that are so behaved. In fact three different times she commented about the children. She also thanked us and mentioned that this was one of her most pleasant and easiest days at work. Later Lupe and I talked to the children about being a blessing and joy to others.
Thankfully other than high cholesterol and allergies we are all healthy. At the end of our appointment not only did the doctor say our children are healthy but he can see that they are happy and doing fine at home. Meaning that they are not depressed and such. That was a good report.
We were all so very hungry after and went to Wendy's and Lupe surprised them with an ice cream cone at our favorite place, Braum's.

Late Friday night which was really early Saturday.

I was up late on Friday. I think it was 2:00 a.m. I was also thirsty. I decided get a glass of cold water. As I entered the kitchen I flipped on the light and Ethan startled me. I didn't hear when he put two chairs together and got all comfy for the night. The next day he said he was cold in his room and made his way to the kitchen. He also informed me that around 4:00 a.m. the kitchen became cold as well so he went back to his own bed.

Saturday
Saturday for lunch Brent made pigs in a blanket. Caleb, Annette, and Josh weren't home. They had gone to Dallas with their dad to see how things were going at the apartments.
Lance playing with playdough. He likes to make battleships and play war between them. Notice my brand new laminator in the background. I bought this mainly for Ducky's school but I'm sure it will be used by all eventually. We need to get our creative juices flowing.
While dad and the older children were in Dallas, Brent and I decided to tackle the tree. A tree was given to us, so instead of buying a fresh tree we thought we'd save some money and put up the fake one. This will be our first fake tree. The children understand that we do need to save money and they were real good about us not getting a live one this year.
It took us a few hours to take all the lights off that the previous owner had put on. There were 6 strings of light, all at least five ft.
When Josh, Annette, Caleb and Lupe came home they started working outside. This property we bought is a project that will take many more years to complete. We need the carport in the back replaced, the driveway, the front porch, the fence replaced and that's not all. It takes time and money. My Sweets can only do so much in a day. This is a rental property but we are living in the front house right now.
Here the kiddos are painting the side board that their dad replaced. They also pulled out weeds and grass that was taking over. There is a drain and we need to keep it clear.
Yay, the tree is done. Can you tell that I let 'little' people decorate. Notice the bottom, right side with all the balls. Hee, hee. Princes J and Ducky came to help Lance and Brent put them on. Everything on the tree was donated. I told my Sweets that we'll just use what was given and not pull all of our stuff out of storage this year.
Lance in front of the tree, he looks so cute. My babies are growing up.

Brent made more of these for supper. I steamed some broccoli and melted some cheese to go with it.
After taking a picture of the piggies I turned the camera on my eldest son.
I didn't take any pictures of Sunday but this is what we did. The children had to be at church by 9:00 to practice their singing for CHRISTmas. At 10:00 Lupe and I went to Sunday School. Lupe was suppose to teach but didn't have to after all. We sat in on the class anyway because starting January Lupe will be teaching it. Him and Mr. L. will alternate months. I'll help Lupe but he'll do most of the teaching.
After church we went to Wendy's for lunch. I can eat the chili there. Yum. Joshua for months now has been ordering a combo, well now Caleb has graduated to an adult size combo as well. Oh my! Usually he gets the small Crispy Chicken Sandwich. For the past weeks he has been eating two and has been asking for the bigger size. Today was the day. I should have taken a picture.

Then we all went home for our Sunday naps. I love those naps. I sleep really well. Once we all woke it was work time. Cleaning up the house and yard for another school week. Yay! I stayed up to print, cut, and laminate Ducky's school (Letter of the Week). I also corrected Annette's Analytical Grammar test. She scored an A!
Here is Annette doing school right before bed time. She likes to start the day before sometimes.
That was our weekend. I'll try to take our camera along on Sunday. My hubby thinks I'm funny taking pictures of food and such. Hey, gotta have the memories.

God bless,

  1. A lovely weekend!

I am finally in catch-up mode. I am hoping to have some Christmas fun with our children to help ease the stress of our recent days.

If you are still wanting the school stuff I shared in our email, I will be able to ship it this week. My mom is coming to visit and I will be able to have some extra help.

I think your post gave me the idea to make some taco soup, too! Our meals have been very off and I need to get back into a routine.

    Sweet (((hugs)))
