Week 29/Day 1

Hard to believe we are on our 29th week of school. I know I haven’t blogged much about our school this year. It has been one of the toughest years for me. I have been lazy with my teaching. I just don’t want too but do of course. I know many homeschooling mamas go through a time when it’s just blah, blah, blah. I guess this is my season. Ugh is all I can say.

I think this is why I enjoy writing more about my Atkins Adventure. I feel it’s something I’m successful at right now. With schooling I don’t feel that way. My Heart of Dakota plans went out the window. I couldn’t handle the four guides that others so easily do.

Lance almost finished Little Hearts but still needs 10 more units. Ethan, well, um, cough, I never got any further than unit 15. But you know what? As disappointed as I am, I am not going to beat myself up. Yes I would have liked to be one of the successful mamas with having 4 guides but oh well. There is always next year.

I do plan to move everyone up a guide despite finishing or not. Caleb and Brent are coming along. They are on unit 20. Annette is doing wonderful as well. She is on unit 26.
Next year Lance will start Beyond and Ethan Preparing. I’m excited!!!
As for today, it was our first day with a new Schoolhouse Review Crew item: *Spanish for You!

Here are the children making their flashcards.
Spanish for You!
Ethan was none too thrilled about having to make their own flashcards but the rest of the kiddos enjoyed it.

Well that’s all for now. Short school posting. I do have lots of pictures that I haven’t shared and need to blog about. There might be a few more post today if I get a chance.
(FYI: any * products were given to me for review purposes)

  1. Next year will be my first year with more than one student (a 3rd grader and a K5; my next-to-oldest-child is developmentally delayed, so she won't be doing school)... it feels so scary. I can imagine that it is hard to juggle so many schedules! I will say a prayer that your year goes more smoothly... and remember, your kids are learning even when you feel like you are failing, so just keep trying! It'll even out in the end!

  2. Clarissa, thank you for your kind words. I need to remember that.

  3. I can totally relate. I homeschool 3 now. Last year it was four. I have been doing this for 7-8 years and I really feel burnt out the last year or two. I just don't have the excitement I used to. I have recently been pondering doing an online public virtual school just so they can have other teachers and have class time on the internet but I don't like the fact that it is not christian based. I need to get my umph back again. I'm not sure what to do.
