Where We School

We actually school all over the place. Joshua in his room, Annette at her desk, Caleb on my bed, Ethan at the dinner table, and Lance likes the bedroom floor.

I usually school in the kitchen. I have the table, a whiteboard, and everything I need close by. The only thing I don’t like about the kitchen is all the noise. I have kids clunking ice in their glass, the dishwasher going, the window air conditioner unit, the pencil sharpener, and the fridge door opening and closing.

It’s frustrating at times when so much is going on in the area that I use to teach. Last year Lupe and I talked about adding a school table in the living room but life got busy and it never happened.

Last week I texted my hubby a picture of our kitchen and to show him how loud our kitchen can be. Ethan on the computer completing a Teaching Textbook lesson, one of the kids rummaging in the pantry and so forth.
A few hours later he texted me a picture of a table and chairs that he purchased at Costco. He made me smile.

It has really worked out great. I’m so happy to have another place to sit with the children and teach. If I need to use the whiteboard I have to teach the kitchen which is fine.

The children love it as well. When I’m not teaching in the living room I will see Ethan or Brent completing some school work at the table.

I think Ethan moved when I snapped the picture.

Caleb still prefers my bed.
Lance too, I think he’s Caleb’s buddy.

  1. Love the set up! We used tables like that for a while too. People always tell me I'm nuts for doing 4 guides (well, my oldest is only doing about four boxes in the World Geography guide). But you're rocking the 6 guide thing!!!

  2. Haha, I'm getting the 'nuts' thing with using the 6 guides. I feel like I've explained a zillion times already. Hmmm, maybe I should write a post about why we are using 6 guides.

    I've missed you!!!
