Keto-Atkins

For the past three months I’ve been doing what I call Keto-Atkins. I don’t really know if I am in major ketosis. I used the strips that test ones urine but I know many people say those are not accurate but hey, it’s fun seeing the stick turn purple.

I don’t think I’m keto adapted though because from what I’ve read you won’t be as hungry and will most likely only be eating two meals a day and eventually one good nutritionally dense meal.

But at the same I don’t know if I want to only eat one meal. I try to fit in all kinds of good stuff in daily like: at least 2 eggs, 4tbl gelatin, cacao powder and butter, butter, and coconut oil. It seems like it would be hard to get all that in in one day along with eating veggies and some red meat.

Anyway I did want to share that I’ve been eating about 20 to 30 carbs max 6 out of 7 days a week. One day a week twice a month I have a half of a sweet potato which ups my carb intake for that day.

I wanted to share how good I feel with eating only to 20-30 carbs a day. I have noticed I don’t crave any low-carb sweets. In facto other than the camping trip I did not eat any homemade low-carb muffins and cake. Nada, none! I didn’t crave them at all. Normally I’ll crave something baked at least once a week.

I also have been getting tired at about 9:00 or 10:00 P.M. so I’ve been going to bed around 10:30 or 11:00. Before I’d go to bed around midnight and sometimes still not fall asleep until one a.m. or so.

I have noticed that since cutting out the franken, low-carb foods that my rashes on my elbow have gone away. When I was super strict at the beginning of my Atkins adventure they went away, but when I started adding in low-carb Joseph Pitas, low-carb tortillas, and things like that, I was bloated and my rashes started coming back.

With drinking my Bulletproof Coffee, that has kept me from getting hungry between the hours of 7:30-12:00 noon. In fact sometimes I didn’t have lunch until 1:00 because I didn’t feel hungry.

I’m amazed how a high fat, moderate protein, low-carb diet has really kept me satisfied. I love it.

I call it Keto-Atkins because my new way of eating all started when I read the late great Dr. Atkins book. Reading his book has changed the way I see food and what I consume.

And as I continue to learn about eating cleaner and how our body works I adjust. It’s certainly has been an adventure. The things I found that works for me and doesn’t work is amazing.

While losing weight it’s like a science experiment because we are each so unique and different. What may work for one may not work for another. A food may or may not stall your weight loss.
