My 1st Junior in High School Student!

Joshua is starting his first day of school as a junior in high school. My baby is 16 years old and in 11th grade!!! I can’t believe he’s almost done with schooling at home.
Joshua is interested in stocks. Right now he has about $300 in a few stocks. His current reads are Sherlock Holmes, books on petroleum, and of course the Bible. I love, love, love, that he studies and reads God’s Word all on his own. It warms my heart knowing he loves Jesus.
This year Joshua will continue using Heart of Dakota: Hearts for Him Through High School World Geography. Joshua will also start his economics course using Exploring Economics from Notgrass.

Joshua’s years:
9th Grade: Bob Jones Dvds Cultural Geography Course
10th Grade: Heart of Dakota World Geography
11th Grade: Heart of Dakota World History with Notgrass Economics
12th Grade: Notgrass or continue with Heart of Dakota or use My Father’s World

Carrie the author of Heart of Dakota has some health problems and it has set her back some with completing the guides. Her family has been wonderful with getting the World History Guide out every 2-4 weeks though and we are so grateful for that. She could have said, sorry, the guide won’t be out for another year.

We are really loving Heart of Dakota (HOD). I like that it incorporates audio books & DVDs along with the reading. It just gives a great mixture.

Joshua is loving the art lessons. I didn't know he liked art so much! I think he didn't realize it either.

Because Joshua has struggled with math we are having him take a basic course using CTC, IXL, and a remedial math program. I know in the public school not all kids are taking college prep math and have something called basic math so that is the route we are taking with Josh.

My blog is public so I don’t want to go into much detail right now. My kids are getting older so I do try to give them some privacy. Hopefully in the future our struggles will help other homeschool families but for now I don’t want to give a whole lot of details.
